Calm and serene, the interior of Fleurs Cottage is beautifully furnished and styled with a subtle French country theme. Relax together or escape on your own to one of the three reception spaces; the lovely sitting room with wood burning stove, the snug cinema room with 3D TV or the breakfast room with sitting area overlooking the garden. In the centre the farmhouse style kitchen with Aga beckons at mealtimes for wine and chatter.Upstairs the bedrooms are cosy and co-ordinated with pretty linens, plump duvets and fluffy towels. Perfect for couples or families, they comprise one double, one twin and a single. There is a good sized modern bathroom on the first floor plus a shower room on the ground floor.
The pretty country gardens wrap around three sides of the house providing privacy and peace. Well stocked with shrubs, flowers and spring bulbs, they are colourful from spring until autumn. In the summer months you can even pick your own fruit and herbs or tend to the vegetable garden and greenhouse if you wish!Immediately outside the kitchen is a patio with table and chairs - a great spot for breakfast, lunches, drinks or a barbecue. The breakfast room also opens to a lovely terrace complete with sun loungers for lazy afternoons. A detached garden room completes the picture.
The cottage is situated on a quiet lane in the village of Gunnislake on the Devon and Cornwall border. The village sits in within the Tamar River Valley, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A mining heritage village with a friendly atmosphere, you can pick up local provisions or visit one of the traditional pubs without getting in the car. We recommend The Rising Sun which is just down the road from the cottage. This really is a fabulous location for walkers with of footpaths along the river and through the surrounding countryside. The incredible Dartmoor landscape is only a few miles away with endless hiking, cycling and riding opportunities. On the western edge of Dartmoor and just 4 miles from Fleurs Cottage is the market town of Tavistock. Brimming with restaurants, cafes and independent shops, the town is home to a pannier market with a regular farmers market too. For serious shopaholics, Plymouth is just 10 miles away and can be reached by train from the Gunnislake railway station on the Tamar Valley branch line.
